Mother's Day

Mother's Day is a very important day to me. It's probably one of my favorite reasons to celebrate besides Christmas and my birthday. I thought this would be the first time that I was not able to come home and praise my favorite person on a day that was made for her. Since finals week was right after Mother's Day weekend, I figured there was no way. I had a really bad week leading up to Mother's Day weekend. At that point I didn't care about anything, all I wanted to do was to get away. So I drove home to surprise my mother. I got in to town at 2:00a.m., somehow, my parents were still up! I thought I was going to be locked out of my house once again... seems like that's always the case. Haha. Home was so good to me. I brought all of my study materials home so I can prep for finals. That didn't go so well. Let's just say fun distracted me. I spent most of my day time with my sister. I always leave her when I'm home, so this was different. I really enjoyed the quality time that we had. I got to see my best friends when I was home, so that was splendid.

So, usually on Mother's Day, I spoil the crap out of my mom. I would have flowers arrangement deliver to her work, I would decorate the house, I would buy her gifts, take the whole family out to eat, etc. Well, this year, I'm way broker than usual... due to the crapload of $$$ that I spent on EDC tix & Vegas. So I told her I would cook for her. Since that would be a much cheaper option. Well... my whole meal came out to be just as much as if I were to take her out to a nice dinner. Luckily my paycheck came just in time! I made a 4 course meal, holy crap that was hard! Like I can cook and everything... but cooking for six people?!? Way different. I made steak salad, spinach stuffed mushrooms, bacon rolls, and shrimp penne pasta with a cream sauce. Even though I didn't manage my time wisely, the food came out okay. It was pretty delicious! Momma was proud. Here are some pictures...

The card my lil sis made for my mom. My favorite line was "Even though you're a diva, I still love you." So presh.
My parents, in love more than ever.

My little cousin Johnni, being silly.
